Challenge

The homeowner called Carolina Energy Conservation for a home energy evaluation. Their electric bill was okay, but they had a suspicion that they were loosing cool air in the summer and heat in the winter. On observing the ducts, our comfort specialist found signs of moisture and areas lacking air sealing. The homeowner was right!

Solution

We suggested duct encapsulation to prevent the air leaking and condensation build up found around the duct to handler connections. We also sealed the boots so there was a better connection from the boot to the vent entering the home. The homeowner has reported back that they can tell the difference immediately in some rooms and are happy to be using less electricity.
